Vietnam Ships Solutions for a Thirsty Planet

(VEN) - Doosan Vina will ship the first made-in-Vietnam desalination evaporator from Quang Ngai province to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 13. On that day the company will also grant VND300 million in support of Ketsana victims in the province.
The 4,000-tonne unit will be installed in the desert about 60km west of Abu Dhabi in the U.A.E. and supply 90 million liters of fresh water per day. That is enough water to satisfy the daily needs of 450,000 people. The desalination plant built at Doosan Vina is nearly the size of a football pitch measuring 10.9m high x 31m wide x 100.5m long.
Construction of the Multi Stage Flash (MSF) evaporator began in March and was completed in just eight months. Employing a force of 154 skilled Vietnamese craftsmen and 18 Korean technicians the team raced to meet the deadline so water could begin flowing sooner, rather than later in the deserts of the Middle East.
BJ Cho, the CEO and the General Director of Doosan Vina, said, "This desalination evaporator will be the first of many, a family of evaporators produced in Vietnam that will be working to improve the quality of life for thirsty people all over the world. We are proud to be able to play a role in solving one of our planets most troubling problems - the availability of clean, safe and fresh water for all."
The ground breaking desalination technology that is used in Doosan evaporators is providing millions of liters of fresh water for thirsty people the world over and with the ‘Made in Vietnam’ label the world is taking notice of what Vietnam has to offer and making a name for Doosan Vina and all of Vietnam.
With ever increasing urbanization and growing demand for potable water a solution had to be developed; answering that call the engineers at Doosan have designed and built one of the world largest and most technologically advanced desalination evaporators turning salty ocean water into fresh, clean potable water for our thirsty planet.
As a global leader with 46 percent market share of the desalination business Doosan is recognized as a leader in water technology. The company is currently constructing the world's largest desalination plant that will provide water for some three million people per day in the U.A.E and Saudi Arabia.
